2026 Water Resources Development Act moves forward
The 2026 Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) is on its way to the full U.S. House.  The U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Tuesday unanimously passed the over $6 billion bipartisan legislation that lays out the federal government’s priorities to improve and maintain the country’s ports, inland waterways, and more.

Aug. soybeans $11.92 and 3/4, down 4 cents
Aug. soybean meal $317.40, up 20 cents
Aug. soybean oil 72.40, down 42 points
Sep. Chicago wheat $6.45, up 9 and 3/4 cents
Aug. live cattle $231.42, down $3.30
Aug. feeder cattle $348.80, down $5.55
Aug. lean hogs $98.45, up 35 cents
Aug. Class III milk closed at $17.01, down 12 cents
Aug. crude oil closed at $79.34, up $1.20
Dec. cotton closed at 80.87, down 64 points
Sep. rice closed at $13.77 and 1/2, up 11 and 1/2 cents
Aug. gold closed at $4,062.10, up $56.40
Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 52,508.27, up 9.63 points

Closing Grain & Livestock Briefs: 
Soybeans, corn down on improved USDA ratings
Soybeans were lower on profit taking and technical selling. The USDA’s national crop rating improved over the past week and development is ahead of average overall. Corn was lower on profit taking and technical selling. The USDA’s national corn rating was above a week ago, but that could decline with hot, dry weather in some areas. The wheat complex was higher on fund and technical buying. The trade is monitoring potential movement issues near the Black Sea region as Russia’s war on Ukraine continues. 
 
Cattle futures sharply lower ahead of direct business
At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live and feeder cattle were sharply lower on technical weakness. Direct cash cattle trade was quiet again Tuesday.  Boxed beef was lower with light demand for moderate offerings. Lean hog futures closed mixed on spread adjustments. Cash hogs closed mixed with a big negotiated run.  Pork values closed lower, down $.34 at $101.21.
