NH+C Urgent Care to Relocate to New Jefferson Road Clinic

By Rich Larson

Northfield Hospital + Clinics (NH+C) will relocate its Urgent Care Northfield operation to the soon-to-open Jefferson Road Clinic this fall, marking a significant step in the health system’s expansion following its acquisition of the former Allina Health clinic in Northfield.

Urgent Care will begin serving patients at the new location, 1400 Jefferson Road, on Sept. 17. The move comes as NH+C renovates the former Allina clinic and prepares to open it as the NH+C Jefferson Road Clinic, a facility that will house a variety of healthcare services and providers.

According to NH+C, the relocation will provide patients with a larger urgent care space, expanded service capabilities and easier access to follow-up care through referrals to other providers located within the clinic. The new location also offers improved public transportation access because it is located on the Northfield-Hiawatha Land bus route. [northfield…spital.org]

The Jefferson Road Clinic is part of a broader partnership agreement between NH+C and Allina Health. Earlier this year, the organizations announced that NH+C would purchase the Northfield clinic from Allina Health and welcome approximately 30 clinicians into the local health system. Providers in family medicine, pediatrics, mental health and sports medicine are expected to continue caring for patients at the Jefferson Road location under the NH+C banner.

The transition is intended to strengthen locally operated healthcare services while maintaining patients’ access to specialty care connections through Allina Health. The acquisition also brings primary care services in Northfield under a single community-based healthcare system.

To accommodate the move, Urgent Care Northfield will close Sept. 15 and 16. During those two days, patients seeking urgent medical care will have several alternatives. Same-day appointments will be available at the Northfield Clinic on the hospital’s main campus from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Patients may also visit NH+C’s Urgent Care Lakeville from noon to 7:30 p.m., Morning Urgent Care Farmington from 7 a.m. to noon, or the Northfield Hospital Emergency Department, which remains open around the clock.

Once the transition is complete, Urgent Care Northfield will operate at the Jefferson Road Clinic Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and weekends from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
