A young family starting their 2 week vacation in Costa Rica is now trying to get their son home on a medical transport. I spoke with Grandpa Doug Grisim. He said his daughter Emmee and her family arrived at their host family’s home on July 10th to enjoy time on the beach, in the parks and more but the very next day, their nearly 4 year old son Axel, fell and broke his femur. He was put in a cast that makes him immobile, unable to sit up. He cannot fly a commercial airline and their insurance won’t pay for anything.
Listen for the full story tomorrow. There are two ways to help the family, Wells Fargo in Northfield has set up a fund that will go directly to the family with no fees. You can donate to Emmee Belle Grisim Lopez. A gofundme page is set up as well. Bring Axel Back Home. Northfield native and former Commander of the VFW, Ken Grisim, is Axel’s Great Grandpa. Emmee was on KARE11 and that should air later today. Also, Emmee is doing live updates on her Facebook page. A fundraiser will take place on Sunday, July 29th from 11am to 3pm at St. Mary’s Church in Lake City where the family lives.
