11 July 2018 – “Vacations” and recreations – play like a Missourian?

Today we report on our trip to Washington DC to talk with members of Congress about climate change solutions. Along the way we pretend that trip was a vacation, then we discuss how we vacation in Minnesota. We hint that Northfield (Music City) could be the new Branson, Missouri.

The facts – If global warming is still happening, why are some areas experiencing record snowfall events?

  • As climate warms, evaporation from the ocean increases.
  • This results in more water vapour in the air.
    • Globally, atmospheric water vapour has increased by about 5{b5761be34e80a16b6d0e4dabc1869c131a263f96a745c82bebdd3b8a4330bfa9} over the 20th century.
      [it’s called data]
    • Most of the increase has occurred since 1970 (IPCC AR4 3.4.2.1).
    • This is confirmed by satellites that find the total atmospheric moisture content has been increasing since measurements began in 1988 (Santer 2007).
  • [it’s called validation, it’s how we check our data, by measuring it two ways.]
