You may have noticed a new design for the Northfield Police Department’s cruiser vehicles. The new design is part of a celebration of the department’s 150th anniversary, featuring a new badge, patch, and car design. Police Chief Jeff Schroepfer says that the new design is rooted in the department’s history:
“So the first badge for the Police Department that we could find is a six-point star. Weeks will be the six-point star with some rockers on it, noting the anniversary, so it’s kind of the throwback for the historic side of things.” – Jeff Schroepfer, Northfield Police Chief on KYMN In The Morning
The new patch design features several notable Northfield buildings, including Ames Mill and buildings at both St. Olaf and Carleton College. The new wrap design on the police vehicles will include some of the elements of the latest patch. Schroepfer noted that there are already several new cars with the latest design as the department as the cycle goes through a few cruisers each year.
A celebration of the department’s 150th Birthday is set to happen later this summer.
