Northfield Churches Toll the Bells a Wordless Prayer of Solidarity for Gaza; Set for September 16th

By Logan Wells, News Director | Logan@kymnradio.net

In one week, on September 16th, several Churches in Northfield will simultaneously ring bells as a Wordless Prayer for Humanity in Gaza. Organized by citizens of Northfield and supported by Palestine in Northfield and Northfielders for Justice in Palestine/Israel, the event is open to the public and begins at 4:00 p.m. at Bridge Square. Following a welcome, attendees will be invited to create a circle together in silence as church bells ring at 4:21 p.m.

The group was inspired by a group of 300 Churches in Norway ringing their bells simultaneously.  Organizer, Wendy Manuel said, “Historically, bells have loudly interrupted daily existence, calling people to gather. Our vision is that bells, ringing in unity, declare the humanitarian crisis. Bells will ring for justice with urgent prayers for the suffering people of Gaza, calling everyone to actions of conscience.”
