Northfield Police Warn of Increase in Vehicle Thefts

By Charlie Mahler

The Northfield Police Department issued a community alert on its Facebook page Monday noting an increase in vehicle thefts in the city.

The alert said officers have responded to “a noticeable increase” in vehicle thefts in the area. The department added it was actively investigating the cases and increasing patrol efforts.

The alert offered reminders to help reduce the risk of becoming a vehicle theft target:

  • Avoid leaving keys or key fobs inside a vehicle
  • Lock doors, even when parked at home
  • Keep valuables out of sight or remove them from the vehicle.

Taking a few extra precautions, the department’s message said, can help make your vehicle a less attractive target while the department continues enforcement efforts.

The Northfield Police also asked community members to report suspicious activity to the police immediately.
